About Us
A place shaped by the sea and by the time spent around the table.
A PLACE TO
SLOW DOWN
Food, time, and hospitality by the sea.
This is a place shaped by the sea and by the time spent around the table.
Meals here are meant to be enjoyed without hurry — whether for a quiet lunch, an unhurried dinner, or an evening shared with friends. Food is served as complete plates, prepared with care and balance, and designed to be enjoyed individually.
The atmosphere is warm and informal, with space for conversation, connection, and lingering moments.
Groups and private gatherings are welcome, and we’re happy to adapt to individual requests whenever possible. If you’re planning something special, or simply looking to enjoy a good meal by the sea, you’re always welcome.
A CONTINUING FAMILY STORY
Family, then and now — gathered around the table.
“Before there was a restaurant, there was a table.”
Food was always at the centre of family life. A small, modest restaurant run by the family became a place where people gathered — for simple, honest food and for the pleasure of being together. Nothing elaborate, just dishes cooked with care and meant to be shared.
In that small establishment, everyone in the family had a role. In the kitchen, Chayito and Yanalthé led the way. Out front, Don Tomás welcomed everyone, turning meals into long conversations and guests into friends. Little Carlos and Tomás filled in wherever they were needed — serving tables, cleaning, opening sodas and helping keep the place alive. It was a true family effort, built on hospitality, warmth and time spent around the table.
Those values never disappeared. They became a foundation.
Today, far from its origins, that same spirit continues at Underhuset. The restaurant is run by family, shaped by the belief that food is about more than what is served on the plate. Recipes, techniques and traditions passed down through generations are treated with respect and adapted with care, always guided by the idea of welcoming people as guests, not customers.
Here, family history meets the present. What began around one table now lives on around another — in a different place, by a different sea, but with the same intention: to cook honestly, to host warmly and to create a space where people feel at ease.
This has always been, and remains, a family kitchen.
